Mention the Algarve and most people immediately think of its coastline: golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, Atlantic views and some of Europe’s best-known luxury resorts.

But there is another Algarve.

Head inland and the landscape changes. The coast gives way to rolling hills, small villages and a slower rhythm of life. It is an Algarve shaped by its landscape, traditions and communities — and one that many international visitors have yet to discover.

This is where we have chosen to begin Journeys Algarve 2026.

From 14–17 October, Viceroy at Ombria Algarve will become home to our Journeys community, bringing together leading luxury travel buyers from the USA and Canada with some of the Algarve’s finest travel and hospitality suppliers.

And the choice of location was very deliberate.

Looking beyond what we already know

One of the things we want to achieve through Journeys is to encourage our buyers to look beyond the familiar.

Our events aren't designed simply to show people a hotel or destination. We want them to experience a place, understand what makes it different and discover the stories they can take back to their clients.

Ombria gives us a very different starting point from the Algarve many of our guests will already know.

Located in the hills of the Algarve interior, Viceroy at Ombria Algarve is surrounded by countryside and communities that reveal another character of the region. It gives our buyers an opportunity to experience the landscape, culture and sense of place before our programme takes them on to discover completely different sides of the Algarve.

Why place matters to us

There is also a reason we think carefully about where our Journeys community stays.

Our Fam-Meetings are built around a simple idea: people build stronger business relationships when they share experiences.

Of course, there will be pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings. They are an important part of the event.

But some of the most valuable conversations happen outside them — over breakfast, on a journey together, during an experience or simply in those unplanned moments between one part of the programme and the next.

For three days, Viceroy at Ombria Algarve won't simply be our host hotel. It will be the place our community wakes up together, meets, talks, reconnects and begins to form the relationships that will continue long after the event has finished.

One Algarve. Many different stories.

And Ombria is only our starting point.

Over the following days, we will take our guests from the Algarve's interior to its coast, its culture, its gastronomy and some rather unexpected experiences along the way.
