The Algarve Beyond the Coast
The Algarve needs little introduction. But perhaps it needs a reintroduction. For many international travellers, its identity has been shaped by the Atlantic: spectacular beaches, dramatic cliffs, championship golf courses and some of Portugal’s best-known luxury resorts.

Yet move away from the familiar coastline and the picture becomes much richer.
There is an Algarve of rolling countryside and historic cities; of Fado, local flavours and centuries of Portuguese culture. There is established luxury alongside a new generation of hospitality — and experiences that range from the wonderfully traditional to the completely unexpected.
This is the Algarve we want to explore through Journeys Algarve 2026.
Fam-Meet® was created around the belief that the destination should never simply be the backdrop to a business event. It should be part of the experience.
So our one-to-one Fam-Meetings will sit alongside opportunities to experience very different sides of the region — its hotels and gastronomy, its culture and history, its countryside and coastline, and even its more adventurous side.
Because understanding a destination is not about being told what makes it special. It is about experiencing it for yourself.
A different perspective on Algarve luxury
Away from the coast, Viceroy at Ombria Algarve reveals a quieter side of the region.
Set amongst the hills of the Algarve countryside, the resort has been designed with a strong sense of place, drawing on local architecture, materials, food and traditions. Its whitewashed walls, terracotta roofs, natural stone and locally sourced wood reference the vernacular architecture of the region.
This is where our international buyers and the Journeys team will make their home during Journeys Algarve.
And it is an interesting starting point because it challenges one of the most familiar perceptions of the destination.
The Algarve isn't only about the sea.
At Ombria, the landscape turns inland. Citrus groves, rolling hills, golf, local produce and a slower rhythm offer another interpretation of what luxury in southern Portugal can mean.
For today's luxury traveller, that sense of place increasingly matters.
An Algarve icon
Then there are the names that have helped establish the Algarve's international luxury reputation.
Vila Vita Parc is one of them.
A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the resort stretches across 22 hectares of subtropical gardens above a secluded beach, bringing together distinctive Algarvian architecture, Atlantic views and Portuguese hospitality.
For Journeys, it becomes more than somewhere to hold one-to-one Fam-Meetings.
Our community will also experience the property itself, including lunch at Bela Vita and time to discover the resort.
That combination matters.
Luxury travel is difficult to understand from a brochure. Walking through a property, experiencing its service and sharing a meal there gives a buyer something entirely different to take home: a memory of how the place actually feels.
The Algarve at full speed
Luxury travel doesn't always have to be serene.
The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve introduces a completely different side of the destination — and a completely different dynamic between people.
Here, the meeting table gives way to shared activity and a karting competition, with the Circuit sponsoring the experience.
There is a reason experiences like this belong within Fam-Meet®.
Put people into a new environment and the dynamics change. Titles become less important. Personalities emerge. People laugh, compete and encourage one another.
And suddenly the supplier or buyer you met across a table earlier in the day becomes the person you raced around a circuit.
That shared memory gives the relationship somewhere else to go.
Faro through all the senses
The Algarve's story isn't complete without its people, flavours and history. Faro gives us the opportunity to explore all three.
Rather than a conventional guided tour, our community will discover the city through a series of experiences and interactions courtesy of Portugal No Limits.
At Clube Farense, housed in a 17th-century manor that later became a meeting place for Faro's aristocracy, the experience includes one of Portugal's most evocative traditions: Fado.
At Gardy, a bakery that has been operating for more than seven decades, it is the flavours of the Algarve — including doce fino, the region's traditional confectionery.
Portuguese conservas bring another strand of culinary culture, while Faro Cathedral and the Archaeological Museum introduce the layers of history that have shaped the city. And from Castelo Bar, perched on Faro's historic city walls, the view opens across the old town, marina and Ria Formosa — accompanied, appropriately, by a Portuguese snack and a drink.
This is destination discovery through the senses rather than through a presentation.
Taste something. Hear something. Climb somewhere. Talk to someone.
Remember it.
Where the Algarve meets the Atlantic
And eventually, of course, we return to the sea.
Atlântico Restaurante sits overlooking Santa Eulália Beach, with a terrace facing the Atlantic and a menu rooted in Portuguese and Algarvian flavours, from local seafood and fresh fish to traditional recipes.
It is an appropriate setting in which to bring the Journeys community together: the ocean as the backdrop, Portuguese food on the table and time for conversations to continue beyond the formal business day.
Because those conversations matter too.
A relationship might begin during a scheduled one-to-one Fam-Meeting, but trust is often built somewhere else — over lunch, competing against each other on a karting track, singing Fado, discovering a city or sitting together over dinner.
Connecting the experience
Bringing these different sides of the Algarve together is Algarve Elite Escapes, our official transport partner.
With deep local roots and a personal approach to luxury travel, the team will help our community move smoothly between venues, leaving more time to enjoy the destination — and the conversations along the way.
More than sun and sea
Perhaps that is what makes the Algarve particularly suited to Fam-Meet®.
It has the contrasts.
Countryside and coast. Established icons and new luxury. Culture and contemporary hospitality. Stillness and adrenaline. Business and pleasure.
Journeys Algarve brings those worlds together.
Our one-to-one Fam-Meetings give buyers and suppliers a reason to meet.
The Algarve gives them something to experience together.
And Fam-Meet® connects the two.
Build trust. Do business.
