Tough Job, But Someone Had to Go to Ibiza

Last week, Micaela and I travelled to Ibiza for our official site visit ahead of Journeys Ibiza Luxury Edition 2026, taking place from 22 to 25 September 2026.

Site visits are always one of the most important parts of preparing a Journeys event. They give us the opportunity to spend quality time with our partners, experience the destination first-hand and ensure every detail is perfectly aligned before welcoming our attendees. Over three packed days, we explored hotels, venues and experiences that will help shape what promises to be a very special edition of Journeys.

Our base during the trip was Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, the host hotel for this year’s event. From the moment we arrived, we were incredibly well looked after by Vanesa, Teresa and Carolina, who showed us around the property and shared their vision for the event.

The hotel is perfectly positioned overlooking Cala San Miguel, with stunning blue waters stretching out in front of the property. Our rooms were spacious and elegant, complete with a huge balcony and a bathtub overlooking the bay. It was the perfect place to unwind after long days of meetings and site visits across the island.

One of the highlights of the stay was dinner at the hotel’s new steakhouse, El Paseo. Watching the sunset while enjoying incredible beef tartare, fresh ceviche and one of the best cheesecakes we have had in a long time was an experience in itself. Breakfast each morning was equally memorable, with everything from jamón serrano and local cheeses to pastries, fresh fruit and exceptional service that set the tone for each day ahead.

During the visit, we also spent valuable time with four of our key event partners and sponsors, all of whom are helping bring Journeys Ibiza Luxury Edition 2026 to life.

We had the pleasure of meeting José and Zélia from Fomento del Turismo de Ibiza and Ibiza Luxury, our headline sponsor, for lunch to discuss the finer details of the programme. The conversation quickly evolved into brainstorming extraordinary ideas, hidden gems and unique experiences that will allow our attendees to discover Ibiza in a truly authentic and elevated way.

Another highlight was our visit to Ocean Drive Talamanca, where Bárbara, the General Manager, welcomed us warmly and showed us around the property. She also took us up to the rooftop terrace, where we will host our dinner on 23 September. The panoramic views over Ibiza Town were absolutely breathtaking. Bárbara also gave us a sneak peek of the menu being prepared for the evening, and ever since, both Micaela and I have found ourselves talking about the food more than we probably should.

We also returned to Destino Five Ibiza, our closing dinner sponsor. The property continues to impress with its vibrant energy, spectacular setting and unmistakable Ibiza atmosphere. Thanks to Naroa and her fantastic team for welcoming us back once again. We already know the closing dinner there will be one of the defining moments of the week.

Another key stop was Teatro Pereyra, where Pedro Matute and Carlos Sisamón showed us around the historic venue that will host our opening welcome and morning meetings on 23 September. The venue combines heritage, character and creativity in a way that feels uniquely Ibiza, and we cannot wait for our attendees to experience it.

Beyond our official event partners, the trip was also a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with old friends across the island’s hospitality community. A huge thank you to Mari from Hotel Riomar, Antonio from Hotel Mongibello, Julia from ME Ibiza, Ariadna from NH Ibiza, Joan from The Standard, Ibiza, Daniela from Hacienda Na Xamena and Niharika from Aguas de Ibiza Grand Luxe Hotel for taking the time to meet with us and showcase your beautiful properties.

One of the most unique and memorable visits of the trip was to BiBo Park Ibiza Botánico Biotecnológico, a venue unlike anything we had experienced before. Among the many fascinating local plant species and innovative sustainability concepts, the highlight was undoubtedly the famous plant pian

o, which both Micaela and I had the chance to play ourselves. A big thank you to Diana and Laura for arranging such a special visit for us.

Every site visit reminds me why we love creating Journeys events. Behind every dinner, meeting and experience is an incredible group of passionate people who genuinely care about showcasing their destination at its very best. Ibiza has once again exceeded our expectations, and after spending these days with our partners and friends on the island, September cannot come soon enough.
