A quietly exceptional London address: The Prince Akatoki

There are hotels that impress, and then there are those that leave a lasting feeling.

Our recent visit to The Prince Akatoki London, where Nicoletta and I were hosted by Zenia Kasun and Mark, sits firmly in the latter category. From the outset, there is a sense of calm and intention that sets the tone for everything that follows.

A design-led approach to hospitality

The Prince Akatoki has mastered something not easily achieved in London — a genuine sense of tranquillity.

Blending Japanese minimalism with classic London architecture, the spaces feel both grounded and refined. High ceilings with intricate detailing sit effortlessly alongside clean lines and natural materials. The result is a design language that feels elegant without ever trying too hard.

There is a quiet confidence throughout the property — nothing is excessive, yet everything is considered.

Rooms designed with purpose

The rooms are a true reflection of this philosophy.

Soft, neutral palettes, warm lighting, and carefully chosen textures create an immediate sense of calm. The layout is intuitive and uncluttered, yet rich in thoughtful detail.

Each room is equipped with a series of considered amenities that elevate the stay:

  • complimentary soft drinks, generously included

  • a yoga mat, encouraging guests to maintain balance and routine

  • Japanese pyjamas, adding a cultural and experiential touch

  • an iron and practical in-room essentials, discreetly integrated

  • curated refreshments and beautifully presented tea and coffee facilities

And then, a detail that stands out: the Japanese toilet in every room. It’s a small but powerful reflection of the brand’s authenticity and commitment to delivering a true Japanese-inspired experience.

The bathrooms themselves are spacious and beautifully executed, with freestanding bathtubs and walk-in showers that feel more like a private spa than a hotel bathroom.

Wellness and balance

The wellness space continues this narrative.

A thoughtfully designed gym offers a calm, uncluttered environment — more aligned with the hotel’s ethos than a traditional fitness room. It’s functional, yes, but also considered in its design and atmosphere.

Again, the focus is not on excess, but on creating a space that feels aligned with the overall experience of the hotel.

A lunch that reflects the brand

Lunch was a true highlight.

We enjoyed a beautifully curated selection of dishes that perfectly reflected the hotel’s identity — precise, balanced, and elegant. The sushi was exceptional, with fresh, clean flavours and a level of detail that speaks to quality and care.

The salmon dishes stood out in particular, complemented by simple yet perfectly executed sides. Light rice, vibrant greens, and delicately prepared edamame added a sense of ease to the meal.

A memorable touch was the sparkling jasmine tea — refined, unexpected, and entirely in keeping with the experience. A small detail, yet one that captures the essence of The Prince Akatoki.

Spaces designed for connection

The bar and communal areas are equally impressive.

Warm wood tones, curated displays, and intimate seating create an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. It’s the kind of space that encourages conversation — whether between guests or within a professional setting.

There is a strong sense that every area has been designed with purpose.

The people behind it

What truly sets this experience apart is the team.

Zenia Kasun and Mark hosted us with warmth, generosity, and a genuine pride in the property. That human connection is what transforms a beautifully designed hotel into something far more meaningful.

Final thoughts

The Prince Akatoki London offers a rare combination — design, calm, and genuine hospitality, all delivered with quiet confidence.

For those in the luxury travel space seeking a London property that feels both distinctive and considered, this is one to know.

It doesn’t shout for attention. It earns it.
