Today, while enjoying a long weekend in Northern Italy with my husband and our dog, I took the opportunity to visit Daniela and her wonderful team at Villa e Palazzo Aminta, a luxury retreat overlooking the breathtaking shores of Lake Maggiore.
As many of our Journeys community know, Villa e Palazzo Aminta has been a valued supporter of our events, but this visit gave me the chance to experience the property through the eyes of a guest rather than an event organiser.
From the moment we arrived, it became clear why this hotel holds such a special place in the hearts of travellers from around the world.
The setting is simply spectacular. Positioned on the edge of Lake Maggiore, with uninterrupted views across the water towards the enchanting Borromean Islands, every corner of the property offers a picture-perfect perspective. Daniela kindly showed us around several of the hotel’s beautiful suites and junior suites. Each room has its own distinct personality, combining timeless Italian elegance with modern comfort. Spacious terraces, luxurious marble bathrooms, exquisite furnishings and panoramic lake views create a feeling of understated sophistication throughout.
What struck me most, however, was not the décor or even the stunning location. It was the atmosphere.
Luxury today is about far more than thread counts, chandeliers and beautiful buildings. The most memorable properties are those that make you feel something. As Daniela and I chatted about hospitality, business, family and life, I found myself reflecting on how fortunate we are in the travel industry. We have the opportunity not only to discover beautiful destinations but also to meet passionate people who dedicate themselves to creating unforgettable experiences for others.
It is often said that luxury travel is about creating memories. Sitting on that terrace today, surrounded by beauty, excellent food and wonderful company, I was reminded that the very best memories are often the simplest ones.
