Texas Ranch Life: Soulful Encounters and Southern Sunsets

There are some places that stay with you — and Texas Ranch Life is one of them. After a morning of focused one-to-one meetings, our journey took a turn — not in pace, but in tone.
We left behind the city’s polish and stepped into something open, grounded, and heartfelt. A different kind of luxury — one made of space, connection, and soul.

Taunia and John Elick, the owners of Texas Ranch Life, welcomed us as if we were old friends. Their 1,800-acre ranch isn’t just a destination — it’s a way of life. You can feel it in the history of the restored 1800s homes, in the care of the horses, and in the way every guest is looked after with warmth and authenticity. They didn’t just open their gates — they opened their world to us.
After our meetings wrapped up, we moved into Ranch Activities, pre-assigned in small groups. Some joined John and Lars for a 45-minute ATV tour across the trails, soaking up the rhythm of the land and its rolling views.
Others had a go at Dummy Roping with Craig — supported by Charlotte and me — learning to rope a dummy steer with lots of encouragement and even more laughter.
Across the way, Clint, Alex and Doug led Tomahawk Throwing, where the thunk of metal on wood became a shared soundtrack to new connections.
Then we gathered at the arena, where John offered something quietly profound — a demonstration of how a cowboy whispers to his horse. He showed us the bond that’s built not through control, but through patience, respect, and trust.

Watching the connection between man and horse was emotional. It reminded us that real relationships are earned, not expected — and that’s true in business too.
With the sun beginning to set, we posed for a group photo, all together, boots a bit dusty, hearts more open.
Then came the feast. Long tables under the evening sky, live entertainment, and the kind of food that brings people together. And what made it even more special — every ingredient came from the ranch itself.
From the meats to the vegetables, everything was raised or grown right there on the land. It was a true farm-to-table experience, full of pride, care, and flavour. A real taste of Texas.
And in true southern style, each guest’s napkin was a mini Texas flag — a fun little souvenir to take home (hopefully not too soaked in BBQ sauce!).
Just when we thought the day couldn’t give us more, the barn doors opened, the music played, and line dancing began — led by Lacey, John’s daughter.
Her energy lit up the room, and her children ran around barefoot and laughing, giving us a glimpse into something rare and beautiful: authentic Texan family life, shared with all of us.
Then, in a moment that took everyone’s breath away, Lacey and her father, John, stepped onto the dancefloor and treated us to the Texan waltz. It was quiet, graceful, and full of emotion. You could feel the love, the legacy, and the life they’ve built — and we were lucky enough to witness it.
These are the experiences that build something deeper than a business card can hold.
This is the Fam-Meet® way — and this was Texas Ranch Life.
